The material is searchable, can be browsed by ‘Theme’ or ‘Decade’, and filtered by media type.

You can download individual items from the collection, or use the search and filtering to produce your own downloadable collections.

Notes on downloading:

  • Downloading video items will include both the video files and a ‘poster image’ for each video
  • Downloading audio items will include both the audio files and a ‘poster image’ for each audio item, if available
  • Downloading image items will just include the images
  • All downloads will include a CSV file containing the metadata for the selected media items

    David Attenborough, Prince Charles (then Duke of Cornwall), Princess Anne. Their Royal Highnesses the Duke of Cornwall and Princess Anne visited the BBC studios at Shepherd's Bush, London, on Monday, April 28th, to watch the Childrens Magazine progrmme 'Studio E'. After the programme they met David Attenborough and the animals which he had presented on the screen. David Attenborough introduces Cocky, his pet cockatoo, to the Royal children.

    Cannon Street Station construction work in 1959. Workmen completed the removal of 2,000 tons of metal roof from the Cannon Street station twin towers after the glass blew out in bombing during the war. The roof, designed by Sir John Hawkshaw, is gone but the towers remain.
