Sugar Chile Robinson

Picture shows child prodigy Sugar Chile Robinson in 1951. Born in 1940 Robinson was playing parties at the White House for President Harry Truman by 1946. In 1949, after signing to Capitol records, he released his hit record Numbers Boogie and his tour of that year broke box office records. By the age of ten he was touring with the Count Basie orchestra. He is pictured here with interviewer Peter Leslie.
